Bluffers Park Marina

Hi all, I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend as the weather was just perfect. On Victoria Day, many places are closed so it doesn't leave much to do except to have some good quality time with friends of family at home or at parks/beaches. I headed down to Toronto's Bluffers Park Marina early in the morning for a stroll. The weather was beautiful and the park was gorgeous. There's no better way for me to describe it than with pictures.

While you can't swim at this park because it is not a beach, you can go kayaking and boating (I say kayaking because I saw someone in one, but I'm not sure if you are suppose to...). Without doing any of those, I enjoyed my day there by just exploring the large park and taking pictures. There's plenty of grass room for picnics and barbeque (just go early if you want to barbeque because most were taken at noon).

If you're interesting in visiting, I've linked the Google Map. Be sure to go early, and not late because they were closing off the gates at 1pm due to full parking lots (maybe it was because I went on a holiday). Parking is charged by the half-hour or flat rate for the day - rates change for weekdays and weekends/holidays.

That's what I did on the weekend! Until next time :)

New Haircolour: Etude House Bubble Dye in Natural Brown

This is probably not surprising at all but I lightened my hair again for the beautiful summer. Ironic thing is that I grew to like the darker hair over the winter but since I stocked up on hairdye in Korea last summer, I'm obliged to finish using them ^-^"

This is the last of the stock, which is Etude House's Natural Brown. They carry only a few shades so there is not a great selection (I remember a natural black, dark brown, natural brown, wine red etc.) so you choose depending on the main colour and lightness (not so much the type of brown like ash brown).

To use: pour #1 into #2, then gently TILT the bottle back and forth to mix (with foam hair dyes, you generally do not shake the bottle). A protective plastic cape, glove and instructions are in the plastic baggie. It also comes with a 'Silky perfumed Treatment' in the purple packet shown in front of the box.

throughout the whole process, my foam remained white so I'm not quite sure how this magical hair dye works. I say magical because I slopped this stuff all over my skin but it never turned/dyed my skin. Even after taking a picture of the foam, it dripped on my laptop and white desk, but they are still alive and unstained!

Here is the before hair colour that was slightly lightened by my last colouring with the Blythe Fresh Light hair dye in Caramel

The smell: not a very strong chemical scent but it is still there
The foam: Great! It's mess-free and great for DIY colouring. It only dripped on my laptop because it took me a long time to take a picture
The treatment: I have not used it yet... because I used my HG Kao Essential Ultra Honey & Shea Butter (Rich Premier) treatment
The colour: It's definitely true to the box, but I don't care much for this orangy colour (I don't think it suits me) but why did I buy the dye after seeing the model have orange hair? Beats me - vacation mode at the time?
The damage: the damage was typical, as you can see my hair lacks shine (not that I had much to begin with). When rinsing out the hair dye, I felt an oily/smooth film in my hair but at the same time it was hard to run your fingers through your hair as with most dyes. This was quickly fixed by adding conditioner.

I would recommend this dye because foam formulas are easy to use, and this particular brand provide endless amounts of foam (I used one box of dye for my length of hair). This particular shade was true to colour, but I have used the dark brown from Etude House before and found that one did not do much. Also the colour selection is not very impressive. I did have some uneven colouring and missed some of my roots, but that's really my own fault for not being thorough.

Also, for those interested, Sasa.com is having WORLDWIDE free shipping for orders $29USD+. I've always wanted to purchase things from Sasa but their $18 shipping to Canada just puts me off. This is good until May 21 (Hong Kong time) so if you're interested, GO GO GO!  I placed an order a couple days ago, not sure when I'm expecting to receive it but I will share when I do :D

Mint Obsession & Mama's Day

I'm back to bring you an OOTD with the super duper amazing mint trend. I saw the mint colour pop up here and there a while ago but I'm not sure why it took me so long to come to love the colour and trend. I must've been searching for a pair of mint green pants for months (even during exam time I would scour online sites for them =__=). At last, I was able to find them at Zara.

Okay okay, if you would like to get the same style of pants that I did, I have to warn you first that you may not be able to find it in the women's section >_> because mine are actually kiddie sized! I kid you not (puns are fun :D) These are size 13-14 and they're still too big on me. I had to take them in at the sides and hem the length when I got home. The next size down was sold out but they fit much better when I tried them on in another colour.

This is actually the first time I've bought pants from the kids section, but I think I will look out for it more often now because:
a) I may not have to hem them (for my non-existent height)
b) They're cheaper ($30 for kids mint pants vs. $40-$70 for ladies mint pants)
c) If I'm not mistaken from my receipt, tax is less for children's clothing!

Also, if you were wondering, my blazer is from Korea after some poor bargaining haha but I guess it's okay because it's nice and also has fun pocket detailing.

And what is the occasion? Mother's Day of course (This Sunday May 13th). We're having an early dinner because it's difficult to get to whole family together and tonight we are going out to Milestones (yum!). As for the presents, I'm giving my mom the typical gifts from Crabtree & Evelyn haha because I really don't know what she wants. But! I rationalized that handcream and shower things always comes in handy (even though I probably got this for her at Christmas and her birthday... and she probably has stockpiles in her bathroom).
After talking about fun colours and fun pockets, look at this fun pattern on the inside of the bag! It was so unexpected because the outside looked so elegant and whatnot.

They were doing a promotion where with any purchase, you can get the Duo Bath Gel and Body Lotion for $10 (original price is $38) so I thought, why not.

I wish you all a great weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

Blythe Fresh Light Hair Dye in Caramel Brown

Hi all, I'm popping in to post about my new hair colour for SPRING!

I stocked up on Asian bubble hair dyes last summer in HK and I couldn't find much info on how to use the Blythe bubble hair dye, not to mention swatches/reviews of the colour caramel brown.

I found the instructions here in Japanese but watching it is easy to understand:

Hopefully this will help anyone who may be looking for the same info as I was.

Here are the before and afters :) Enjoy

Mini-Review:
ease of use: 5/5
apply the foam as you would with shampoo (just remember that when you are mixing the colourant and developer that you only tilt the bottle left and right, DON'T SHAKE)

smell: 4/5
chemically like any other hair dye but masked with a fruity smell like the original herbal essence

colour: 3/5
hair came out subtle, more orangey and definitely not as light as the box but I only left mine on for 20min (suggested is 20-30min)

damage: 3/5
hair is noticeably drier but it was still manageable during the rinse (for other dyes I've tried, it is impossible to run your fingers through your hair initially)

cost: 4/5
it was $69 HK so about $10CAD - not bad but after last time's Revlon Colorsilk for $3-4 a pop, nothing cheaper than that will get 5/5 haha
